Canon in Vietnam and 30 CompaniesJoin hands to support people in flooded areas in Quang Tri & Quang Ngai provinces

    Hanoi, 12th November 2020 – With a desire to share pain and loss with the people in the Central region severely affected by the flood and typhoons, the trucks carried relief aids from Canon Vietnam and 30 other companies, including Canon Electronics Vietnam, Canon Marketing Vietnam, Santomas, Tenma, Seiyo, Nissin Electric, Sumitomo, Toyo Ink, Yamato Industries, Hanel, Kinyosha, Topla, JoyoMark, THK, Kingmo, Dainichi Color, Shihen, Misumi, Meiko, Konishi, NST, Raiza Express, Nippon Express, Delta International, Nippon Steel Trading, Bach Son, Green Space, Ha Phat , Thanh Nghia, and Hieu's group has departed for the affected areas in 3 districts, namely Gio Linh, Huong Hoa, and Dakrong in Quang Tri Province and 3 other districts, which are Son Tinh, Minh Long, Son Ha in Quang Ngai Province. During this trip, Canon staff and representatives of the companies handed nearly 1,200 gift sets, including cash and necessities such as: rice, cooking oil, fish sauce, spices, instant noodles, milk, shampoo, soap, face towels, medicine, backpacks, shirts, etc. to underprivileged households who were severely affected by 02 recent typhoons no. 8 and no. 9; the total estimated donation value is 1.8 billion VND.

    The above donation amount is contributed by the companies and their employees in the donation week from October 20 to October 27. Although the gifts can never compensate the heavy losses, they reflected the kind heartedness and sharing from companies and their employees who wish to help the flood victims to quickly stabilize their lives after the floods.

    During the relief trip starting from 8 November to 11 November,  Canon relief crew together  with Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union of Quang Tri and Quang Ngai provinces visited, shared and gave cash and gifts to nearly 1,200 underprivileged and severely affected households in 11 communes: Linh Thuong, Vinh Truong (Gio Linh); A Ngo, Ta Rut, A Bung (Dak Rong); Thuan commune, Thanh commune (Huong Hoa) of Quang Tri province; Tinh Hiep, Tinh Son commune (Son Tinh), Long Mai (Minh Long), Son Ba (Son Ha) of Quang Ngai province.

    Touched by the aids from the companies, the households sincerely thanked them; here is the sharing from Ms Cao Thi Vung: "I would like to thank the companies for not minding the long distance to come here to give gifts to support us in overcoming this hard time ..."

    Looking back in 2010, 2013 and 2016, when the people in the Central area of Vietnam faced continual typhoons and their aftermaths, Canon successfully called for billions of dongs to support thousands of affected households in the areas.

    In addition to the donation to the flood victims, Canon also organized many other meaningful social responsibility activities such as the "Canon friendship school chain" project to support building classrooms for disadvantaged schools across the country, the "Canon – Cultivate future talents" scholarship, or the "For a green Vietnam" reforestation project ...
