    Inspection Checklist for the Power Cord and Power Plug

    Contact the local Canon Service Centres if any of the following problems are found:

    • There are burn marks on the power plug. It is possible that tracking phenomena have started. This is a dangerous condition.

    • A power plug prong is deformed.


    • The power supply goes off and on when the power cord is bent.

    • There are cuts, cracks, or indentations on the power cord.


    • A portion of the power cord becomes hot.






    Examples that may cause electric shock or fire and are dangerous:

    • Dust or debris has accumulated on the power supply outlet and power plug. 
      (Recommendation: Turn the power switch off, disconnect the power plug, and remove dust and debris with a dry cloth.)

    • The connector on the device side is loose.
      (Recommendation: Push the connector firmly all the way in.)


    • Stress is being applied to the power cord. 
      (Recommendation: Position the power cord so that it is not subjected to stress.)


    • Disconnecting the plug by pulling on the power cord. 
      (Recommendation: Always disconnect the power plug by pulling on the plug rather than the cord.)

    • Connecting or disconnecting the power plug with wet hands. 
      (Recommendation: Dry your hands completely with a towel, etc., before connecting or disconnecting the power plug.)


    • The power plug is loose. 
      (Recommendation: Push the power plug firmly all the way in.)

    • The power cord is tied in a bundle. 
      (Recommendation: Loosen the power cord.)


    • The power cord protrudes into a walkway. 
      (Recommendation: Position the power cord so that it will not obstruct the walkway.)

    • The power cord is in front of a heater. 
      (Recommendation: Position the power cord in a location that is not subjected to heat radiation.)


    • The product or table tap is at a location near water access. 
      (Recommendation: Water is the enemy of electricity. Do not use electrical products at a location on which water may come.)

    • An excessive number of cords are connected. It is possible that the rated capacity of the table tap has been exceeded. 
      (Recommendation: Do not connect an excessive number of cords.)
