WILD BIRDS AND MAMMALS OF VIETNAM PHOTOGRAPHY COMPETITION AND EXHIBITION
Vietnam is one of the most biodiverse countries in the world, especially for birds and mammals. Our country hosts a variety of ecosystems including tropical rainforests, mangroves, grasslands, and mountains. These environments provide rich habitats for many species of wildlife, including nearly 1,000 species of birds and more than 300 species of mammals.
Vietnam's biodiversity is a precious natural resource that is under serious threat from habitat loss, illegal hunting, and climate change. Numerous bird and mammal species, including Edward’s Pheasant, the Javan Rhinoceros, the Kouprey, and the Wild Water Buffalo, have completely disappeared from the wild. Urgent biodiversity conservation efforts are needed to preserve the ecosystem's balance and secure the future of Vietnam’s wildlife.
In the past 10 years, wildlife photography, especially bird photography, in Vietnam has developed rapidly. There are now hundreds of photographers in Vietnam who are passionately and enthusiastically capturing the beauty of birds and mammals in their photographic pieces every day.
Through wildlife photography, the love for nature and the conservation awareness for Vietnam’s wildlife and their habitats is increasing.
The photo contest and exhibition "Wild Birds and Mammals of Vietnam" in 2024 aims to:
- Create a useful, civilized, and friendly nature photography platform, specifically for the beauty of Vietnamese wild birds and mammals, that is accessible to a large number of domestic and international viewers.
- Encourage each person’s love for nature, especially for wild birds and mammals, for the purpose of protecting and conserving wild animals and plants.
- Encourage learning about the life and status of wild birds and mammals in Vietnam, as well as the country’s legal regulations on the management and protection of wildlife.
