The first RF lens to feature the Voice Coil Motor (VCM) in addition to a Nano USM, the RF35mm f/1.4L VCM results in ultra-fast and incredibly accurate autofocus performance that operates silently, making it ideal for video recording. Filmmakers can unleash their creativity using the physical iris control.
Apart from performing exceptionally well in low light, the large aperture of f/1.4 and circular 11 aperture blades will give you that sought-after cinematic bokeh.
The RF35mm f/1.4L VCM delivers superior image quality throughout the image, including the edges, with its innovative design and optical configuration made possible by the RF mount.
A Voice Coil Motor (VCM) is an actuator that converts electric into kinetic energy using magnetic field. The RF35mm f/1.4L VCM is the first RF lens to use a VCM. It drives the heavier focusing lens group, while the Nano USM drives the floating lens.
These two work together to deliver ultra-fast and incredibly accurate AF. The focusing is also very smooth and quiet, making it perfect for video recording.
When recording videos, a typical phenomenon that occurs is a 'pulsing effect' in the footage whereby the camera's angle of view changes slightly during focus racking. The RF35mm f/1.4L VCM's floating focus control suppresses breathing optically in all focus positions, resulting in outstanding video quality with any EOS R camera bodies.
With a compact size of 99.3mm in length and 555g in weight, the RF35mm f/1.4L VCM is smaller and 27% lighter than the EF35mm f/1.4L II USM.
*This product emits low level magnetic flux. If you use an implantable cardiac pacemaker or other medical device and feel abnormalities, please keep away from this product and consult your doctor.
*When the lens is not attached to the camera or the power switch of the camera is in the off status when the lens is attached, shaking the lens may cause the internal lens group to shift and noise may occur, but this is not a malfunction. Although the internal lens group shifts due to vibration such as when the lens is carried, this will not affect aspects such as performance.
